April 2025 - First Sunday, Night Walks and More

Dear friends and loiterers

I hope the sprunging of Spring is bringing some joy and comfort to you in these strange times. It’s First Sunday, this Sunday, and we will walk, talk, question, dream and play together as we always do at this time of the month.
Actually, it is not quite as usual; there are several ways to join in this April, including an extra evening wander.

First Sunday 5th April In Person and Online
Lydia is facilitating on Sunday, and she will be outside Southern Cemetery at 2pm on Sunday 5th. Meet at the entrance just opposite Maitland Avenue, 212 Barlow Moor Rd, Manchester M21 7GL She also asks me to remind folk about the big footie match at 4.30pm which might impact some travel plans. Thanks Lydia, I’m sorry to miss your magic weaving as I know this will be a memorable wander and I am missing an opportunity to say meet me at the cemetery gates.
I won’t be in person at Southern Cemetery because its Weird Weekend North in Rixton. I believe a few loiterers will be joining me, and there are still tickets left:  https://www.weirdweekendnorth.com/
There will also be an online derive using the same prompts so folk can walk together at a distance, wherever you are in the universe. If you want to join way please send a whatsapp message to 07974929589. I will create a whatsapp group for the afternoon where prompts will be shared and members can post words, photos, sounds etc they collect on their walk. This will start at 2pm in unison with Lydias loiter.

Night Walking Tuesday 8th April
The LRM will also be gathering for one of our occasional weekday wanders as so many folk have been asking…
Find us 7pm on Tuesday 8th April at the Fairfield Street entrance to Piccadilly Station (ie NOT the main entrance on Piccadilly Approach)

May First Sunday with Helen Billinghurst and Phil Smith
More information to come, but I wanted to share with you May’s loiter will be a special one. We will be joined by Crab & Bee (Helen Billinghurst and Phil Smith) who are celebrating the launch of their new book ‘Crab & Bee’s Matter of Britain’a gathering of old stories and folk tales and “a banishing spell against nostalgia and a magical working for the remaking of the Matter in the ruins of the present, from the treasures of the past, speaking into the bodies of a strange future”.
Join us 2-5pm in Hulme for a walk, talk, story telling and more (some of the time we will be inside). There is space for a bit of an open mic session so if you have a song, poem, writing, magic trick, dance, reading or anything else you would like to share please get in touch….

Notes
The pace and direction of all walks are set by loiterers together, and will last between 90-120 minutes. We will finish somewhere for a brew and a blether for all that want to stay and share stories. If you have any access needs, random questions, more information or would just like to say hi please email mlrose@liverpool.ac.uk post on the facebook group “the loiterers resistance movement” or text / whatsapp 07974929589
