THE LRM

The Loiterers Resistance Movement

July 2026 First Sunday

Dear Loiterers

It’s First Sunday, this Sunday and so that means time to loiter together again.

Join The LRM outside the main entrance to Manchester Piccadilly Station (top of station approach NOT the Fairfield Street entrance) at 2pm Sunday 5th July.

As ever our wander will be free and open to all who are curious, convivial and up for a mooch. The only rules are take care of yourself, each other and our environment. And don’t be an arse. The direction and pace will be set collectively, and after around two hours we will retire for a beverage and story swapping. If you need more information or have any specific access needs please don’t hesitate to get in touch.

Later in the month I will be in London reviving The Bench Project, which first materialised in Piccadilly Gardens in 2008 (!). That bench has now gone, but you are very welcome to come and sit with me in Angel Alley, Whitechapel, between 11.30-5.30 on Wednesday 15th and Tuesday 21st July. No previous experience or booking required; just turn up and sit with me.

The Bench Project in Angel Alley is a celebration of street furniture, an experiment in sharing space, an exploration of the everyday life of the city, a reclamation of the art of loitering and a chance to sit down, take a moment, and chat about whatever you like (or just sit quietly and see what else is happening in the alley). More information here: https://tinyurl.com/BenchAngel

There will also be a The Feminist Art of Walking walk starting in Angel Alley at 2pm om Wednesday 22nd July. It’s also free but booking is required. https://tinyurl.com/WCWalkLondon

The walk, and The Angel Alley bench Project, are part of 𝙒𝙖𝙡𝙠𝙞𝙣𝙜! 𝙋𝙤𝙬𝙚𝙧! 𝙄𝙣𝙘𝙡𝙪𝙨𝙞𝙤𝙣!, a series of walks and workshops as part of Whitechapel Gallery’s Backyard Biennial, an 8-week, free, summer arts festival across East London. I’ll share more of the programme soon; I’m dead chuffed to be part of a dream team including Manal Massahla, Saira Niazi, Alisa Oleva, Ella Parry-Davies, Lorna Powell, Clare Qualmann. If you can’t wait the full programme is here:  https://tinyurl.com/BBPowerWalk

I hope to see you on the streets, or on a bench, soon. In the meantime please don’t hesitate to get in touch: email mlrose@thelrm.org Instagram @moragloiters or facebook “the loiterers resistance movement”

With love and golden apples

Morag x
