March 2025 First Sunday: Lighting Up The Loiter

Dear friends and loiterers

Its First Sunday, next Sunday 2nd March and I’m letting you know early because we have an unusually late start for a particularly intriguing loiter which combines two recent strands of wandering.

This month’s guest loiterer will be our friend architect, artist and scholar Dan Dubowitz. We will play with light and dark as we walk together.

This loiter has emerged because Emmett suggested an exploration of Holt Town which is on the brink of immense change. It’s an area we have loitered in the past and a return is long overdue. There have also been several conversations about light, and lighting, in terms of perceptions of safety, risk, atmosphere and aesthetics, and some may have seen my call out regarding activist experiments with light.

I am very excited to see where this takes us…

All welcome to join us 5.00pm at New Islington Tram Stop.

Dan says please bring a torch or lantern, a walking stick and rubber bands if you have them – but if you don’t please just bring yourself.

We will ensure the route and pace is inclusive of all that join us. If you have any specific access issues or questions please don’t hesitate to get in touch beforehand. After 90-120ish minutes we will find somewhere to sit, drink and share stories.

Please try to be punctual as I don’t know where we will go. As ever the LRM rules are take care of each other and where we tread, and don’t be an arse. An additional rule this month only is you can’t use your mobile phone as a torch.

To get in touch please email mlrose@thelrm.org text/whatsapp/signal 07974929589 or comment on our facebook group “the loiterers resistance movement”

I hope to see you on the streets soon

Love and golden apples
Morag
